Many professionals working on the Lilly Lebanon Project live and work in central Indiana. Meet a few team members who you’ll see around town.
TOM HENDRICKS
Fluor Project Director
As Fluor’s project director for the Lilly Lebanon site, Tom Hendricks oversees all engineering, procurement and construction services. It’s a big job that involves managing costs, safety, quality and scheduling to make sure all aspects of the project meet expected delivery dates. Hendricks, who started with Fluor as a process engineer 35 years ago, has traveled the world working for Fluor and has a wealth of experience. According to Hendricks, “My goal is to create an environment and culture for teams to excel, and to ensure all areas are working together to meet the project deadline.”
What’s the best thing about your job and/or the project?
The best thing is knowing that the facility we’re building will produce critical treatments and will improve lives.
Where’s one of the most interesting places you’ve ever worked or visited?
I had the occasion to work three years in Singapore and three more years in Shanghai for Fluor. Both were incredible.
What do you do when you’re not at work?
I enjoy boating and spending time with my family.
APRIL CLINTON
Fluor Supply Chain Contract Management Lead
April Clinton oversees the contract management team that bids, sources and manages subcontractors for the Lilly project. Clinton and her team work hard to recruit local businesses to help provide engineering support, civil work, mechanical, electrical and building finish work for the project. Of her nearly 30 years working at home offices and jobsites for Fluor, she says it’s the on-site work she has enjoyed the most. Clinton, who will be moving to the Lebanon area in September, says, “I love learning more about a local community and region by traveling around and meeting people, and of course watching the project actually being built.”
What’s the best thing about your job and/or the project?
I love bringing value to the client, building relationships with contractors and most of all, leaving a community with a new neighbor they can be proud of.
Where’s one of the most interesting places you’ve ever worked or visited?
I think at last count I’ve traveled with Fluor and lived in 10 states, but I’ve had projects across 40 states and into Canada, Denmark, and Puerto Rico. All have been great, but I think one of my favorites was an assignment in Finland for 14 months. A close second place is Utah, where my husband and I, along with our golden retriever, lived for over two years in our 28 foot Airstream in the mountains outside of Salt Lake City. We explored much of the western United States, and would treasure another assignment somewhere out west.
What do you do when you’re not at work?
I’m a big reader of science fiction, fantasy, and American history. We now have two golden retrievers, so they demand play time and attention. My husband and I like to go antiquing for cool stuff, and we also like to travel and camp in our Airstream throughout the year to visit family or just explore.
