Did you know: 36% of food insecure mothers skip meals due to financial reasons?
The Eli Lilly and Company and Fluor staff working at the LP1 site in Lebanon, Indiana, hosted a two-week food drive in March as a way to give back to the community and help families in need, in advance of the Easter holiday. Site team champions communicated the initiative and its importance to everyone working at the site. The goal was simple: to increase year-over-year donations.
Here’s the good news. Together, Lebanon Project staff far surpassed last year’s totals (700 pounds of food and $300 in cash), with donations totaling nearly 2,500 pounds of food and nearly $3,000 in cash all donated to the Caring Center, a Boone County non-profit with a food bank supporting local families. Using Feeding America’s guidelines of $1.92 estimated donation value per pound, the total donation amount for the event was valued at $4,782.72.
