Spring farm planting season has arrived in Boone County. The LP1 project prioritizes safety and hosted sessions with special guest speakers representing the Purdue Extension. Brian Daggy and Andrea Hatfield reminded workers that farming traffic will be mixed with construction vehicles, and shared these safety tips.
- Farm equipment travels at 25 miles per hour, so fellow motorists should maintain a safe speed and stay alert.
- Give yourself extra travel time during this busy farm season.
- Do not assume that farmers see you, but be patient and they will.
- Farmers will pull over to allow accumulated traffic to pass once they find an appropriate spot where they can avoid things like mail boxes and power poles.
- When meeting farm equipment on the road, pull to the right-hand side to allow them to pass.
